ART OF GIVING ART TEAM

Katharine Coles, Creator of AOGA

Favorite piece of art: Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose (When you see it live, the lanterns actually look lit!)

Favorite food: Thai, definitely!

Favorite song: Canon in D by Pachelbel

Giving back: My first volunteer gig was working with disabled children when I was in the 3rd grade! Over the years I've served as a hospital and nursing home volunteer; CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused children); mentored inner-city children for Stand High Stand United in Boston, MA;  and served on the Board of P.S. I Love You Foundation and Access Executive Network.

She also co-authored "Leading Partners: How Men and Women Lead Differently" with Michael Gurian, a best-selling author.

Favorite piece of art: Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Klimt. Also referred to as The Lady in Gold, this piece is in the permanent collection of the Neue Galerie in NYC. To see it in person is to be transported.

Favorite food: It's a tie between Southwestern and Vietnamese.

Favorite song: Too many to choose just one! Favorite genres include classic rock and blues.

Giving back: Contributions include serving on the board of the Ethical Society of Northern Virginia, ESL tutoring in Northern Virginia and in Santa Fe NM, serving on the board of the New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and volunteering with Planned Parenthood doing office work and as a patient escort. I'm currently on the board of my community HOA.

Background: Career in Human Resources in small and large professional services firms. Interests include art, design, travel, reading, Pilates, photography, margaritas and new adventures. New thing: learning how to play mahjong!
